A Letter from the President

With 2022 underway, I can’t help but look back at 2021 and celebrate what an incredible year it was for SMPS in Idaho. It feels like yesterday when Renee, president-elect, and I set out to bring the first SMPS chapter to the state of Idaho, way back in October 2020. Fast-forward to 15 months later and we’re recruiting sponsors, members, and speakers. We have hosted two successful virtual programs along with six networking opportunities.
The most exciting part? This is only the beginning!
The most important part of any organization is the people. We’re thrilled to have an energized, determined, and ambitious group formed for our future board of directors. Our board is supported by the first SMPS Idaho advisory board, consisting of industry professionals and SMPS veterans who bring a combined 50+ years of experience. We’re grateful for this group’s support and confident this will help bring our developing chapter to the next level.
As our chapter begins to take shape, we can’t move forward without thanking our first two program presenters, Mercedez Thompson of Michael Baker International and Nici Stephens of Elevate Marketing Advisors. They hosted highly informative, interactive programs for SMPS members across the country. Not only was this beneficial to dozens of A/E/C professionals, but it also puts SMPS Idaho on the map as we continue to develop our chapter with new members and sponsors.
As the population throughout Idaho continues to grow, so does the need for networking and learning opportunities in the A/E/C industries across the state. With many professionals relocating to Idaho during the pandemic, there’s a newfound interest in networking, accompanied by fresh perspectives from people who’ve moved here from other states. SMPS Idaho was created to meet a need in our industry and fill a void that has long been empty in our state.
I’m excited to lead this passionate group of people in 2022 with a team of highly motivated professionals. We’re excited about the future and can’t wait to create an SMPS presence across the great state of Idaho!
